“It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get up.” – Vince Lombardi The much-awaited Senior Athletic Meet took place on Wednesday, 6 December 2023. The event brought together students and teachers for a day of friendly competition, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. The day commenced with a torch run where the distinguished athletes of the school ignited the torch of harmony, goodwill and sporting spirit. Following the torch run, the school’s Sports Captain led a march past consisting of the School Cabinet, as well as students of the four houses, showcasing unity and coordination among the student body. The atmosphere was electric, with a sense of unity and pride evident among the participants. The theme for this Senior Athletic Meet was ‘Changing Trends in the Field of Sports.’ Based on the same, the houses decorated their venues and display boards. They also presented a dance and cheerleading display inspired by the national sports of various countries – ice hockey, rugby, sumo wrestling, and hockey – which they had been assigned earlier. The event was graced by Ms. Ekta Jha, the chief guest, a true luminary in the world of sports administration. She is a former national and international-level basketball and netball player who has an illustrious career associated with prestigious organisations like the Indian Olympic Association, Special Olympics Asia Pacific, and the Government of Bihar. The main event started with flat races in various categories – 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, and 800 m. To make the occasion even more exciting and lively, several special events were organised, including a relay race between the Assistant Main Cabinet and Assistant House Cabinet, a Tug of War between the students of classes XI and XII, as well as a lemon-spoon race for teachers! Winners were felicitated with medals and trophies, and participants received certificates of appreciation for their dedication and sportsmanship. In the end, the best athlete in each category was revealed – Zuhayr Tabrez and Pragya Valecha earned the title in the junior category, along with Ishaan Jha and Akshadha Trivedi in the senior category. The electrifying competition for the best house resulted in Ekta House winning the first place, followed by Shakti House as the runner up.
